The Next Digg Town Hall Meeting

Next week is the 2nd Digg Town Hall meeting.

What do you want to see discussed?
What do you think will happen?
Why aren't you wearing pants?

These issues and more can be discussed in the thread we just started to talk about the next town hall meeting.

Never go to a town hall meeting unorganized. Start talking now about issues you want to bring to the Digg staff.

They need to follow through with their intentions to create an official Digg forum where users can communicate issues with Digg staff on a regular basis, and expect replies. Please Digg up this comment.

Babyman,
why do you ask people to digg up comments? Is it so that the comment makes more of an impact on the devs?

For this Digg Town Hall (as well as the last), the topics Kevin & Jay chose to discuss were determined by the number of diggs each comment had. The more diggs a comment has, the higher priority they attach to it.

Here's my projection of the next Town Hall Meeting
- No user interaction
- It will run like a press conference
- They will unveil a new feature that all the other sites already have
- They'll spend a few minutes sucking up to the top diggers even though they secretly hate them for having too much control
- They'll evade all the serious issues but will make it look like they're giving out a lot of info
- Everyone will come out of it like they've just been to a Metallica concert, later on realizing that nothing really happened and stories are still being buried by obvious moderators, the most dedicated diggers still need 200 votes to get their stories to the front page, there are no plans for user forums, the digg support team will still reply to your questions with laconic scripted answers, there's no transparency, the comment system will forever crash firefox, friend management will continue to suck, the site will run so slow you'll think you're on a modem connection and the only technology news you'll find on digg are the ones put there by marketers.

AHAHAHHA!!!!!

I agree with Char's predictions.

Anyone got others?

Ugh, unfortunately, Char Bar, I'm afraid I have to agree with your predictions. It's not going to stop me from pressing them on these issues, though.

I missed the post :( I have to take a vacation from the internet (except Twitter - can't seem to break myself away from that) because I have so much work to do for the end of the semester. I have a lot of questions.

I'm glad that sbader left the comment about bringing attention to the depths of the queue - something the algo is incapable of.

I'm disappointed that this post got only 600+ diggs; that's fewer than the previous Town Hall post.

But, more than anything right now, I'm upset that this post wasn't submitted from Kevin's account. I don't mean to offend the Digg employee who did submit this post, but there were far better choices.

And, yes... I think Char Bar is spot on.

Char Bar is right. This will most likely be another installment of "Public Relations Placating Until the Big Sale".
