Digg competitor Mixx just launched an extension to its groups feature that founder Chris McGill describes as “Ning for social media”.

This is something I've always wanted to see happen. I've been critical of Mixx in the past - but have to give it Kudos right now.

I'm back from a quick vacation (hey, I needed it).
I have checked out the responses re: Mixx.com - and soon I am going to contact the head of Mixx to hand them over.

One possible vision of Social News Central is a wandering tribe of social media people - swarming into different sites (smaller and niche social media sites) with every intention to leave them sprinkled with ideas about how to expand and improve.

Richard (a member here at Social News Central) has a good follow up on
ReadWriteWeb about Yahoo Buzz. I say "follow up" because Muhammed Saleem (a trusted friend and social news expert) wrote the first review of it.
