So what do MIT Media lab graduates do when they love dogs, and are shy at dating? They create a new way for animal lovers to meet! It has taken them three years of development, but last fall Noah Paessel, Phil Liang, and Jon Gips launched the
Sniff Tag.
Okay now, the
Sniff Tag?? What is that you ask? Well its a tag, that goes on a dog collar, which connects to a social website.
Each dog, puppy or pooch who is the proud…

Alex Goldman of
InternetNews.com writes “Salesforce Taps Into Twitter”, he goes on to say, “Customer contact centers have moved far beyond the phone, says
Salesforce, embracing
Facebook,
Twitter, and other Web applications.”
I have been preaching the value of online social media tools for over a year. I have been hawking the tools needed to…

Furl, a web page archiving and bookmarking web service was bought by Diigo, a social bookmarking and annotation service. Diigo has made the acquisition of Furl from LookSmart, who released them earlier this week. The acquisition makes many frequenters of both sites happy now that they won't have to choose between the two. I am sure that the furl users wil

With all the social bookmarking sites out there, I must say that I'm a bit overwhelmed.
I've been trying to get the word out about my
new tech blog, and have had some success with
Digg and a few others. By my last estimate, I'm a member of 10+ bookmarking sites, and it's getting tough to keep them all updated.
If there was a site or service that would allow me to submit bookmarks automatically, and digg/vote/stumble…

As some may have noticed, there have been several posts recently at Social News Central that are, for all intents and purposes, spam. This is not a site to post links to your sites unless they are social media related. This is not a place to push your products unless they are social media related.
The activity level has dropped off in recent weeks and it is mostly my fault. Dave has carried the torch for some time now, but at some point I left the site on autopilot, posting occasionally and mon…

Yesterday was probably one of the most exciting days of this year, if not the past 4 when it comes to the possibilities of emerging media being pushed to the forefront and actually being a factor in something very important in not just our nation's history but quite possibly world history. Yes, the United States elected its first African American president, but it also elected its first president to utilize technologies beyond email or a cell phone to office to just raise campaign donations.

According to this blog by zaibatsu, digg.com has been busy again banning many of their top users, under the short-sighted business model that is "Our web site should be worth $300,000,000".
Thats quite a bit of money for a web site that doesn't actually produce anything.

It's been about 7 months now since I joined the Social Media sphere online. It's been an amazing time with both revelations and also so many good thing happening. When I started to hit it off I also decided to be as public as I could be, well knowing the problems and consequences it could render me. But still it has been an experience, and I have only had one incident with and "troll" stalking me. Now that problem is dealt with and that person isn't bothering me anymore!

There is a lot of real estate that Ning makes available to us. We can extend it down pretty far adding widgets and gadgets and whozits and whatever. My question: should we start adding feeds to this site from various social media websites?
There are advantages and disadvantages that I have already thought of, but I would rather get input from members here before expressing them
THANKS!
