My thoughts on the uses of new social tools

hi everyone. this started out as a simple, private e-mail from me to a single person, but then it got a little longer, and a little longer...

then I thought, hell, if the feds are gonna read my e-mail anyway, why not just post the e-mail in public so anyone and and everyone can read it? why hide something from my friends, and show it to the feds? I opted for transparency and the open flow of ideas, and perhaps a slightly larger audience

i found some of your work on mixx.com, and embedded it on this ning network.

there is a conspiracy hub group at mixx you may like. if you join the group, then whenever you submit something to mixx, you will have the option to submit to that group, which has an rss feed out of mixx and into a ning network.

things that go popular in that particular mixx group will RSS feed out onto the front page of the ning network conspiracy hub.

so, basically, you could put your stuff on the front page of another site with the click of a mouse.

if you join the conspiracy hub ning network, any videos you embed there will RSS out into lots of other ning sites. for example, your face is about 1/2 down this page, and on several similar groups within sites...

also, you may want to look at friend feed, and second brain, where you
register_the_different_services_you_use, like youtube, mixx, twtitter, a blog (or 10). once set up, anything you do is aggregated onto one site.

friend feed is pretty cool unto itself, but what is especially useful is that it combines all your activity into one RSS/atom out. With that, you can feed into any ning profiles you have. here is my profile at two ning sites. check out the bottom, left column to see where the friend feed shows up.

so, if you really want to put your work in front of a lot of eyes, join or make a ning network, embed your videos, where it will RSS out. Be sure to leave a link back to your youtube profile, and tag properly. (note tagging method used)

Then, submit that embedded video to mixx, and add it to however-many mixx groups are appropriate. that will send it into lots of mixx groups and onto the front page of lots of ning sites/ groups.

i think the inevitable marriage of ning and mixx will be awesome!
i don't think ning has quite caught on with the public, yet.
i'm sure many people just say "big deal, its just a myspace cloning laboratory". but thats not really a fair assessment. ning sites are what you make of them.

I'd understand if you don't want to. But one thing you might try to do: Create a blog post on the front page that just teases people into this longer post here in the Mixx group.
